Follow the Path of Righteousness

On the morning of Saturday December 6, 2014, I had an open vision. The vision began with people walking to and fro in the earth going about their daily tasks. Out of nowhere a multitude of apes appeared. Almost immediately I was able to make a connection between these apes and those seen in the most recent movie version of the Planet of the Apes.

As the vision unfolded the apes began to walk among the people as they went about their normal day. Any place that people could be found, you would see the apes going in and out among them.

This increase of apes was found in homes, businesses and other places where people normally congregated. Because of their continual unruly behavior, soon the people began to tire of the apes and looked for solutions on how to get rid of them. But whenever they found workable solutions their plans were always discovered. In the end the people finally realized that the apes did not want to change, nor did they want to leave from around them.

Ultimately, it was revealed that the main purpose and desire of the apes was to completely invade every facet of human life and to change the course of what is now considered as moral and decent behavior.

After the vision, I asked the Father for the interpretation and what He desired for me to take away to pray about. I’m now released to share that this vision serves as a message of caution as it relates to the sign of the times.

As people of God we are to always seek to be examples of Christ as we walk and interact with others on a daily basis. So it is imperative especially during this time of uncertainty and national unrest that we continue to covey the true image of Christ in all that we say and do.

While many among us may use tactics and behavior that contradict the very essence and character of Christ, those who are the true sons and daughters of the living and sovereign God must daily make a conscience effort to always let their speech and conduct remain pleasing in His sight. People must see the love, hope, faith and truth of the Father out on public display and not purposely hidden under a bushel.

Overall, we must remain obedient to our initial charge as Christians and must never allow for the misguided zeal of others to lead us to stray from the established path of righteousness. No matter what happens, the light of Christ must reign supreme in every situation.

Blessings,

A Scribe of the Lord, a Scribe for the Lord

Scripture:

Proverbs 4:18
The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day.

Prayer:

Father, I ask for your forgiveness for anytime I acted in a behavior unbecoming of the essence and character of Christ. Today, I align my heart with yours and seek to do things your way.

Thank you for your established path of righteousness and for the opportunity and honor to walk upright in the midst of so many nations. Thank you for the strength, wisdom and courage to obey you despite the status quo. Thank you in advance for helping me to not allow the unruly behavior of others to lead me astray. Thank you that the prayers of the righteous are powerful, strategic and effective in the realm of the spirit.

Father, I thank you that I can take a stand for unrighteousness, but first I must be found standing in your righteousness. I praise you for your continued faithfulness and ability to work all things together for the good of those who love you and are called according to your purpose. I give you praise in advance; because in all things you remain seated upon your heavenly throne. It’s in Jesus name, I pray. Amen.

BookCover-AftertheAffair

On Monday evening July 14, 2014 it was announced that “After the Affair Emotional Healing God’s Way” was chosen as a 2014 Reader’s Favorite annual International Book Award Contest finalist. This is an awesome honor to even be recognized in such a huge international book event. After the Affair Emotional Healing God’s Way made it by the grace of the Father through hundreds of books submitted into one of the top three finalist spots in the Christian Biblical Counseling category.

finalist-flat-webBookAwardFinalistI am so graciously humbled by all of this because when I was first given the mandate to write this book in 2012, I was a bit reluctant. However my total obedience to God in this assignment was more important than any sacrifice I would ever make. I must add that this has indeed become a double celebration day because the After the Affair Emotional Healing God’s Way Prayer Journal was also released earlier today. Overall, I give the Sovereign Father high praise for what He has done through this book series because married couples are definitely being emotionally and spiritually set free.

And to both of my co-finalists in this category I release blessings, best wishes and congratulations to you. May Father do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us. ~ Ephesians 3:20

On the Shoulders of a Pioneer-Maya Angelou

“A bird doesn’t sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song.” -Maya Angelou

Upon hearing from my mother about the passing of Maya Angelou, my thoughts immediately went back to 1985 when as a nervous eighteen year old college freshman I had my first and only opportunity to meet this gracious poetic pioneer.

As a student studying Broadcast Communications at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, my roommate and many others who loved her work petitioned the university about allowing Dr. Maya Angelou to come and speak at our Black History program that year. After a time of testing the university finally approved our request. I still remember vividly how my roommate, who professed to be Dr. Angelou’s #1 fan, would cite “Still I Rise” from sunup to sundown. I will say that my roommate was blessed because I loved poetry just as much as she did otherwise, I would have probably been looking for a new roommate.

As the newly elected president over the Gospel Choir, I was asked by the Black Student Union officers to prepare the song selections for the upcoming program. I went to the choir and we took a vote and chose two songs and immediately began rehearsing twice a week.

When the big day finally arrived, we all wore the traditional black bottoms and white blouses. You would think I was singing a solo by all of my nervousness. By the time it was our turn to sing, I was ready to pass out from all of the built up excitement.

When we finished our first song selection titled “Do Not Pass Me By” and prepared to go into the next selection, Dr. Angelou hollered out “sang children! I want to hear that one again! We sung an encore and then took our seats. With our performance officially over we were then able to sit back and listen to what was going to be imparted into the parched spirits of those assembled.

After the conclusion of the program, as student upon student went up to meet and shake hands with Dr. Angelou, my turn finally came. However when I was introduced, my thoughts went blank as I completely forgot the words I had rehearsed in my mind. Way too slow on my thinking feet she finally spoke up and said, “I really enjoyed the choir. You all really blessed me with that good singing.” She then hugged me and I walked away humbled at the opportunity the Father granted me.

Later that night after returning to our room, my roommate and I were both silent as we reflected on the evening’s events. As young writers and poets we had finally met our #1 most favorite poet of all time. Truly it was a day that was orchestrated by God in order for our paths to cross with such an extraordinary and gracious woman.

Dr. Maya Angelou, thank you for allowing your life to be a living epistle among men. As an acclaimed author, actress, civil rights activist, dancer, educator, lecturer, poet, producer, and scribe you are a true example of the Father’s love, grace and mercy as expressed through the spoken and written poetic word.
