Deceptive Identities Exposed

Deception is defined as: 1. The act of making someone believe something that is not true : the act of deceiving someone. 2. An act or statement intended to make people believe something that is not true.

I love how the Father speaks even when I’m watching television. Today while watching an old episode of Criminal Minds, the scene opens with three of the female FBI agents in a bar conversing with a nicely dressed man. He is discussing how important his job is as an FBI agent at the Quantico, Virginia headquarters. When the real agents questioned him about certain particulars of his job, he replies, “Its classified information.” They in turn look at each other and laughed because they actually work out of the Quantico headquarters. Finally, one of the agents asks if they could see his ID and badge.

The look on the man’s face is one a thief would make when he is caught red handed in the midst of a robbery. Once again they ask for his ID and badge. By this time, they were totally tickled and said in unison, “Oh yes, its classified information.” The camera then pans back to show the expression on the man’s face who gives off a very weak laugh as they each pull out their ID and badge. The scene concludes with them asking the man if his badge looks anything like theirs. He finally realizes that he has been fully exposed as the deceptive person he is and without one word to the agents he walks away.

In the word of God found in Joshua 9: 1-18 there is a story known as the Gibionite Deception. Joshua and the children of Israel a short time after entering the promise land become the unfortunate victims of this deceptive practice.

“Now when all the kings west of the Jordan heard about these things—the kings in the hill country, in the western foothills, and along the entire coast of the Mediterranean Sea as far as Lebanon (the kings of the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites)— 2 they came together to wage war against Joshua and Israel. 3 However, when the people of Gibeon heard what Joshua had done to Jericho and Ai, 4 they resorted to a ruse: They went as a delegation whose donkeys were loaded with worn-out sacks and old wineskins, cracked and mended. 5 They put worn and patched sandals on their feet and wore old clothes. All the bread of their food supply was dry and moldy. 6 Then they went to Joshua in the camp at Gilgal and said to him and the Israelites, “We have come from a distant country; make a treaty with us.”

7 The Israelites said to the Hivites, “But perhaps you live near us, so how can we make a treaty with you?” 8 “We are your servants,” they said to Joshua. But Joshua asked, “Who are you and where do you come from?” 9 They answered: “Your servants have come from a very distant country because of the fame of the Lord your God. For we have heard reports of him: all that he did in Egypt, 10 and all that he did to the two kings of the Amorites east of the Jordan—Sihon king of Heshbon, and Og king of Bashan, who reigned in Ashtaroth. 11 And our elders and all those living in our country said to us, ‘Take provisions for your journey; go and meet them and say to them, “We are your servants; make a treaty with us.”’ 12 This bread of ours was warm when we packed it at home on the day we left to come to you. But now see how dry and moldy it is. 13 And these wineskins that we filled were new, but see how cracked they are. And our clothes and sandals are worn out by the very long journey.”

14 The Israelites sampled their provisions but did not inquire of the Lord. 15 Then Joshua made a treaty of peace with them to let them live, and the leaders of the assembly ratified it by oath.
16 Three days after they made the treaty with the Gibeonites, the Israelites heard that they were neighbors, living near them. 17 So the Israelites set out and on the third day came to their cities: Gibeon, Kephirah, Beeroth and Kiriath Jearim. 18 But the Israelites did not attack them, because the leaders of the assembly had sworn an oath to them by the Lord, the God of Israel.”

Prayer:
Sovereign Father, help me to stay alert emotionally, mentally and spiritually. Help me to be mindful of those who come with the intent to deceive as they promote their own agenda or to protect their own lives. Help me not to come into alignment or covenant agreement with anyone or anything you have not ordained. Help me to guard my own heart against any personal deception as well. I thank you for the full armor of God which will help me to stand strong as I move further into my promised land. Lastly, I thank you for the truth of your word which reveals that I will continue to pass through in victory as long as I stay in alignment and covenant agreement with you. In Jesus name, I worship and praise you. Amen.

Authentic Vessels

Authentic:

“Conforming to fact and therefore worthy of trust, reliance, or belief: an authentic account by an eyewitness. Being so in fact; not fraudulent or counterfeit”

Reference: American Heritage Dictionary

It’s interesting how sometimes people will appoint then send someone across your path in order to see if the gifts you operate in are indeed authentic. However when the appointed person leaves healed and delivered and returns back to where they came from; the person (s) still is not convinced and will send someone out a 2nd, 3rd and even 4th time. Understand that the ability the Father gives you to discern these things are not to harm you, but instead is to help strengthen your faith and walk in Him.

Remember in Matthew 9:14-17 when the disciples of John paid a visit to Jesus? It reads “(14) Then John’s disciples came and asked him, “How is it that we and the Pharisees fast often, but your disciples do not fast?” (15) Jesus answered, “How can the guests of the bridegroom mourn while he is with them? The time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them; then they will fast. (16) “No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment, for the patch will pull away from the garment, making the tear worse. (17) Neither do people pour new wine into old wineskins. If they do, the skins will burst; the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.” (NIV)

Now let’s look at Matthew 11:4-6 when they return to Jesus. “After Jesus had finished instructing his twelve disciples, he went on from there to teach and preach in the towns of Galilee.
(2) When John, who was in prison, heard about the deeds of the Messiah, he sent his disciples (3) to ask him, “Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?” (4) Jesus replied, “Go back and report to John what you hear and see: (5) The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor. (6) Blessed is anyone who does not stumble on account of me.” (NIV)

While the person (s) may mean well in their reasoning to test to see if you are indeed operating in partnership with the Father, their attempt to test you is more so about their own fears then it is about your authenticity. The bible clearly speaks of the trials and testing that will come as a result of your faith and who you have become in Christ. As a vessel of God never allow the doubts of those around you to deter you from pursuing Christ with a reckless abandonment and remaining authentic. Continue to set your face like flint, pray for all involved and keep pressing forward.

In closing, never stifle or smother the gifts the Father has placed within you in order to fit in with the status quo. Utilize your confidence in Christ and work your gifts all to the glory of God. If others can’t see or truly appreciate the God in and around you, they will continue to have doubts about who you really are that is of course until the scales upon their eyes are removed.

At the end of the day your goal as a authentic vessel in partnership with the Father is to seek to remain focused, faithful, obedient and in sync with Him.

Draw Nigh, Come Even Closer

My dear precious ones, that uneasiness, that unsettling that you have been feeling in your spirit  today is not an indication of something wrong with you. It is however the resettling of your spirit as it relates to the recent shift in the realm of the spirit and in the earth.

Do not be afraid or concern yourself with all of the logistics for I am still in control. Give yourself time to get acquainted with what I have done. Once you yield, you will see that you have been moved closer than you have ever been before.

Don’t look back to measure; instead keep your focus strictly on where you are now at this very moment. There will be many more shifts to come but for now embrace your new place in me.

Come nigh. Draw even closer for I have something I want to say, to reveal to you. Come! Let me whisper in your ear. For in this place I will reveal why I have allowed you to become.

Now, now dry your eyes. It’s okay to cry your tears. I know you are grateful that I have kept you all of these years. Yes, yes draw nigh through the shed blood of my Son.

Ephesians 2:12-14New Living Translation (NLT)

12 In those days you were living apart from Christ. You were excluded from citizenship among the people of Israel, and you did not know the covenant promises God had made to them. You lived in this world without God and without hope. 13 But now you have been united with Christ Jesus. Once you were far away from God, but now you have been brought near to him through the blood of Christ.

The Heart Beat of the Father

One of my favorite things to do after my husband and I married was to lay my head on his chest and listen to his heart. I would quiet myself in order to listen to each beat. With great joy as I listened closely I could measure how far each beat was apart from the other. Often I would lift my head in order to observe if each beat was moving in sync with the rising of his chest and the manner in which he was breathing. This practice for me was not only beautiful and peaceful to watch but also served as a constant reminder of how amazing the Sovereign Father truly is.

This morning as I laid my head on my husband’s chest before he prepared for work, Father gently spoke how important it is for all of us to take time out of the hustle and bustle of life to just spend quality time listening intently to His heart. How often have you heard someone say, I don’t know God’s voice? Or maybe even you have asked how can I hear God more clearly?

The answer to these and many more can be found in taking out quality time to sit in the presence of God and listening closely to the beat of His heart. Is it wisdom that you seek? Is it clarity about your day? Is it direction about which way to go? The answers that you seek can be found nestled in between each beat.

The peace that you crave comes when you rest and allow yourself to move in sync and in tune to His heart beat. Life can be much sweeter. Your joy will last longer than a few hours. Your faith will not automatically deflate at the first sound of bad news all because you have a new desire to live out the rest of your life in sync and in tune with the heart beat of the Sovereign Father.
